Create a "Basting Stitch" in Embird Editor

In Embird Editor it is so easy to create a basting stitch
around any design. This is helpful if you DO NOT have basting stitches
on your sewing machine. Basting stitches are helpful when you aren't hooping
your fabric and want to adhere the fabric to the stabilizer. They are also
helpful if you want to embroider alignment stitches BEFORE basting your
fabric to the stabilizer. In Embird it is quick and easy!

Open Embird Editor and bring in the design you are working with.

Make sure that you have it selected (click on design in work area OR click on design in Object Bar).
Click on INSERT (top toolbar) and click on BASTING STITCHES.
In the next window you set the stitch length. Five (5) mm will work for most machines.

If you want to have some spaces between the design and basting stitch then put a number in the Specify Border Offset box.
Click OK.
Your basting stitch will be put in the Object Bar as the FIRST OBJECT. It will be the first to embroider.
In the image at the left, the colors in the design need to be sorted.
IF you do not like the little center stitches that Embird creates, RIGHT-CLICK on one of the COLOR BOXES for the DESIGN and select HIDE ALL COLORS. Then just click on the "LASSO" ICON (left toolbar) click around the stitches. When you have clicked around all the inside stitches, DOUBLE-CLICK, to finish the selection.
With the left mouse button, click on the SPLIT ICON and you will see those stitches at the bottom of the Object Bar. RIGHT-CLICK on that object (3rd one down) and select DELETE from the menu that comes up.
Now, you need to join all the objects, so click on one of the objects in the Object Bar, hold down the SHIFT or CONTROL key on your keyboard and click on the other object. Click on the JOIN ICON (top toolbar) and then you are ready to save your design with the basting stitches.

It is always a good idea to have the basting stitch a different color than what is in your design.
